Writing for Behold the Lamb

The title of this drawing "Behold the Lamb" is taken from John 1:29,  "Behold the Lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world."  The lambs at the side of baby Jesus are included to bring attention to this name given by the Father.

The scriptures point to Christ as "the Lamb" from Genesis,  (where He was first promised to be provided by God),  to Revelation,  (" . . . and the Lamb in the center of the Throne shall be their Shepherd and shall guide them to springs of the water of life."  (Rev. 7:17)).

As the Bible teaches, we were not redeemed with perishable things like silver and gold from our futile way of life,  but with the precious blod of a lamb, unblemished and spotless.  (1 Peter 1:18)   As a result of this offering and lavish expression of God's love and mercy we are given purity and a holy standing before the Father.        (Eph. 1:14,  Col. 1:22)

A purity that our own performance could never obtain.  (Galations 2:21)  "For by one offering,  He has made forever perfect,  those who are sanctified."  (Hebrews 10:14)  "He who knew no sin,  became sin on our behalf that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."  (2 Cor. 5:21)

Behold the Lamb . . . purchaser of our redemption . . . through which we have the privilege of witnessing and sharing in His eternal Glory.
